Authoritarian governments pose a significant barrier to achieving a global free society and, ultimately, world peace. Their existence prevents us from evolving into a utopian society where freedom and peace prevail. Countries like North Korea, China, and Russia exemplify how these regimes hold us back. In North Korea, the government's tight control over citizens through surveillance, censorship, and propaganda severely limits freedom. The Chinese government uses advanced surveillance technology to monitor its citizens, restricts political dissent, and censors the internet. Russia, under Vladimir Putin, has seen increased suppression of political opposition and free speech, hindering democratic processes and individual liberties. These authoritarian regimes share several common characteristics that contribute to the suppression of personal freedoms and societal evolution.
